81080:LACTATE DEHYDROGENASE (LDH), ISOENZYMES
Methodology: Enzymatic/Electrophoresis (EP)
Edit Date: 6/11/2010
Performed: Daily
Released: 24-48 hours after setup at PeaceHealth Laboratories’ reference lab.
CPT Code: 83625-90 / 83615-90
Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST).
Handling: Allow to clot completely at ambient temperature. Separate serum from cells immediately.
Stability: 7 days ambient. Unstable refrigerated or frozen.
Standard Volume: 1 mL serum.
Minimum Volume: 0.6 mL serum.
Transport: Ambient.
Comments: Do not freeze or refrigerate. Hemolyzed specimens and serum which have not been separated from cells show elevated LD-1 and LD-2. LD-4 and LD-5 are labile at low temperatures and are erroneously low in samples that have been frozen.
Rejection Criteria: Frozen, refrigerated or hemolyzed specimen; specimen collected with EDTA or potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride anticoagulants.

Reference Range:
LD-1: 14-27%
LD-2: 29-42%
LD-3: 16-22%
LD-4: 8-15%
LD-5: 6-23%
