Collection: | Two 5 mL red top tubes. Also acceptable: Two 4 mL green top tubes (sodium heparin), 4 mL lavender top tubes (EDTA) or 4 mL grey top tubes (potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride). Do not use serum separator tubes (SST) or plasma separator tube (PST). | ||||||||
Handling: | Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells and pour into a plastic vial. Protect specimen from light. Freeze. If multiple tests are ordered send separate specimen for this test. | ||||||||
Stability: | 48 hours ambient, 7 days refrigerated, or 1 month frozen. | ||||||||
Standard Volume: | 4 mL serum or plasma. | ||||||||
