Specimen Collection Details | |||||||||
Collection: | 5 mL whole blood by arterial or venous puncture in a calcium titrated, heparin coated syringe. After drawing, carefully remove any air bubbles. Capillary specimens may be used if they are collected in calcium titrated, heparin coated tubes, stoppered. Do not cool specimen. | ||||||||
Handling: | Keep specimen in original container, allowing no exposure to air. Transport to laboratory ambient within 30 minutes. | ||||||||
Standard Volume: | 5 mL whole blood. | ||||||||
Minimum Volume: | 1 mL whole blood in a syringe or 200 µL capillary blood. | ||||||||
