The endomysial antigen has been identified as the protein cross-linking enzyme known as tissue transglutaminase. Detection of tissue transglutaminase antibodies is an aid in the diagnosis of certain gluten-sensitive diseases, such as Celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis. |
