Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST).
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum from cells into a plastic vial. Freeze. Repeated freeze/thaw cycles destroy CK activity.
Stability: 24 hours refrigerated or 14 days frozen. Unstable ambient.
Standard Volume: 1 mL serum.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum.
Transport: Frozen on dry ice.
Comments: This test will detect CK macro-enzymes.
Rejection Criteria: Ambient specimen or specimen refrigerated longer than 24 hours; heparin, EDTA, citrate, fluoride or iodoacetate .
