<20.0 EU (EU=ELISA Unit)

<20.0 EU 20.0-30.0 EU >30.0 EU
Negative: No Smooth Muscle antibody (ASMA) detected. Weak Positive: Repeat testing may be helpful. Positive: Smooth Muscle, IgG antibody (ASMA) detected.

Anti-actin autoantibodies are the main component of what have been called Smooth Muscle antibodies (ASMA).

ASMA are found in 52-95% of patients with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) or chronic active hepatitis (CAH) and in 22% of patients with primary bilary cirrhosis (PBC). ASMA have been reported, usually in low titers, in 3-18% of sera from the general healthy population.
