Mitochondrial Antibody, IgG Result Interpretation, ELISA Method:

Less than or up to 20.0 EU (EU=ELISA Unit)

Less than or up to 20.0 EU Negative: No mitochondrial antibody (AMA) detected
20.1-24.9 EU Equivocal: Repeat testing may be helpful.
At or more than 25.0 EU Positive: Mitochondrial IgG antibody (AMA) detected.

Anti-mitochondrial antibodies (AMA) have been reported in 90-95% of patients with primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC). AMA are also occasionally found in sera of patients with other liver conditions, including chronic active hepatitis, cryptogenic cirrhosis and in patients with clinical but no biochemical evidence of liver disease.
