Specimen Collection Details
Collection:
One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST).
Handling:
Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum from cells and pour into a plastic vial. Refrigerate. Do not ship on a Friday. Specimen must be received at PeaceHealth Laboratories’ reference lab within 7 days.
Standard Volume:
2 mL serum.

Comments:
A quantitative analysis of hyaluronic acid (HA), tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase (TMP-1), and a2-macroglobulin (AMG) interpreted utilizing an algorithm to predict with no indeterminate results the likelihood of liver fibrosis in patients with hepatitis C, and may help reduce the number of liver biopsies required. Due to sampling error and the relative risk of biopsy, this testing is useful for initial patient evaluation and when biopsy is contraindicated or refused.
Rejection Criteria:
Specimen received more than 7 days past draw date and time.
