Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 4.5 light green top plasma separator tube (PST), one 4 mL lavender top tube, or one 4 mL green top tube (heparin).
Handling: Allow to clot completely at ambient temperature, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells as soon as possble. Refrigerate.
Stability: Specimen stable 7 days ambient, 30 days refrigerated, or 1 month frozen.
Standard Volume: 1 mL serum or plasma.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum or plasma.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Rejection Criteria: Hemolysis.
