Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 5 mL red top tube. Also acceptable: One 4 mL geen top tube (heparin), 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA), or 4 mL grey top tube (potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride). Do not use serum or plasma separator tubes (SST or PST).
Handling: Centrifuge and immediately separate serum or plasma from cells.
Stability: 5 days ambient, 14 days refrigerated, or 6 months frozen.
Standard Volume: 2 mL serum or plasma.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum or plasma.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Rejection Criteria: Use of SST or PST.
