Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST).
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum from cells and pour into a plastic vial. Refrigerate.
Stability: 24 hours ambient, 14 days refrigerated, or 1 year frozen.
Standard Volume: 0.5 mL serum.
Minimum Volume: 100 µL serum.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Rejection Criteria: Heat-inactivated, lipemic, icteric, hemolytic, turbid or bacterially contaminated specimen.

<0.2 OD Negative: no significant level of IgG antibody to Schistosoma detected.
≥0.2 OD Positive: Presumptive evidence of a current or past infection with Schistosoma.
