Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 5 mL red top tube. Also acceptable: One 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA), 4 mL green top tube (sodium heparin), or 4 mL grey top tube (sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate). Do not use gel separator tubes (SST or PST).
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells into a plastic vial.
Stability: Specimen stable 12 hours ambient, 4 days refrigerated, or 30 days frozen.
Standard Volume: 2 mL serum or plasma.
Minimum Volume: 1.5 mL serum or plasma.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Rejection Criteria: Use of SST or PST.

Interpretive Data
No therapeutic range exists for Sertraline. Dosing should begin at 50 mg/d, not to exceed 200 mg/d. Dosing above 200 mg/d is associated with increased adverse effects and decreased efficacy. Dosing of 50-200 mg/d gives serum values ranging from 30-200 ng/mL.
