Collection: | THIS TEST IS FOR PREGNANT WOMEN. Collection performed Monday-Saturday by appointment with PeaceHealth Laboratories Outpatient Phlebotomy. Patient must be fasting 8-16 hours prior to collection. Three specimens required: Fasting, 1 hour, and 2 hour.Collect one 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST) for each draw. Also acceptable: One 4.5 light green top plasma separator tube (PST), one 2 mL grey top tube, or one 5 mL gold top serum separator tube (SST) for each draw. Procedure: A glucola dosage of 75 grams is administered after fasting specimen is drawn. The 1- hour and 2- hour specimens are drawn subsequent to the ingestion of the glucola dose. |

Handling: | Centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells immediately. Centrifuge serum or plasma separator tube and transport in the original tube. Clearly indicate the draw time and fasting or post-glucola dose, and the order of each draw, e.g., “1 of 3,”, etc., on each specimen. Refrigerate. | ||||||||
