Collection: | One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 5 mL red top tube. NOTE: Specimen should be collected before such prostatic manipulations as DRE, prostatic massage, TRUS, or prostatic biopsy. | ||||||||
Handling: | Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum from cells within 3 hours. Refrigerate at 2-8° C. Freeze if specimen cannot be assayed within 48 hours. Do not allow more than two freeze/thaw cycles.. To assure accurate matching for historical graph, patient’s Social Security Number is requested in addition to date of birth. |
