Specimen Collection Details
Collection:
One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST).
Handling:
Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum from cells and pour into a plastic vial. Refrigerate.
Stability:
7 days ambient, 14 days refrigerated, or 6 months frozen.
Standard Volume:
1 mL serum.
Minimum Volume:
0.5 mL serum.
Transport:
Refrigerated.
Comments:
The assay detects circulating Candida antigen in patients with serious, disseminated infection. A consistently high (>=1:4) or rising titer correlates with disseminated disease.
