| Collection: | One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 5 mL red top tube. Specimen should be collected before such prostatic manipulations as DRE, prostatic massage, TRUS, and prostatic biopsy. | ||||||||
| Handling: | Allow to clot, centrifuge, and separate serum from cells within 3 hours. Refrigerate, or freeze at -20 oC if transport is delayed beyond 48 hours. Keep frozen. | ||||||||
| Stability: | 48 hours refrigerated or 5 months frozen at -20o C. | ||||||||
| Standard Volume: | 2 mL serum. | ||||||||
