Specimen Collection Details
Collection: Viable organism in pure culture on solid or in liquid media.
Handling: Indicate source of organism and any other pertinent information. Additional information to include when submitting an isolate for identification is growth rate of the organism and DNA probe results.
Stability: 14 days ambient, 14 days refrigerated, 14 days frozen.
Transport: Viable organism in pure culture at 20-25° C. Submit specimen according to Infectious Substance, Category A, shipping guidelines.
Rejection Criteria: Nonviable organisms, mixed cultures, leaking containers, or organisms submitted on an agar plate.
