Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: Cerebrospinal Spinal Fluid (CSF).
Handling: Centrifuge and separate serum from cells immediately and pour inot a plastic vial. Label as ‘acute’ or ‘convalescent.’
Stability: 48 hours ambient, 14 days refrigerated, or 1 year frozen. Allow no more than one freeze/thaw cycle.
Standard Volume: 2 mL serum or CSF.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum or CSF.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Rejection Criteria: Severely lipemic, contaminated, or hemolyzed specimen.

1.0-1.4 IV: Equivocal – Questionable presence of Coccidioides IgG antibody detected. Repeat testing in 10-14 days may be helpful.

≥1.5 IV : Positive – Presence of IgG antibody to Coccidioides detected, suggestive of current or past infection.

≤0.9 IV: Negative – No significant level of Coccidioides IgM antibody detected.
