Specimen Collection Details
Collection: Two 5 mL red top tubes.
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum from cells and pour into a plastic vial. Freeze immediately. Critical frozen. If multiple tests are ordered, freeze a separate aliquot for this test.
Stability: After separation from cells, 2 hours ambient, or 2 weeks frozen.
Standard Volume: 1 mL serum.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum.
Transport: Frozen on dry ice.
Comments: Circulating immune complexes may be found without any evident pathology and positive results do not necessarily implicate the immune complex in a disease process.
Rejection Criteria: Unfrozen or thawing specimen.

Reference Range:
Less than 4 µgE/mL is considered negative for circulating complement binding immune complexes.
