Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST).
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge, separate serum from cells into a plastic vial. Freeze. If multiple tests are ordered submit a separate specimen.
Stability: 24 hours ambient, 72 hours refrigerated, or 1 month frozen.
Standard Volume: 1 mL serum
Minimum Volume: 300 µL serum
Transport: Frozen on dry ice.
Rejection Criteria: Plasma; gross hemolysis or lipemia.

Reference Range:
≤ 1.75 IU/L

Positive results are consistent with autoimmune thyroid disease.
