Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST).
Handling: Centrifuge and separate serum into a plastic vial. Label tube as “acute” or “convalescent.” Refrigerate.
Stability: 48 hours ambient, 7 days refrigerated, or 2 months frozen. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
Standard Volume: 1 mL serum.
Minimum Volume: 200 µL serum.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Comments: Paired testing of acute and convalescent specimens is recommended.

Aid in the diagnosis of suspected arboviral encephalitis. IgM class antibody is detectable within 1 to 3 weeks of onset, peaking and rapidly declining within 3 months.
