Specimen Collection Details
Collection: Two specimens required: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST) AND one 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA).
Handling: Centrifuge SST, separate serum from cells, and pour into a plastic vial. Leave lavender top as whole blood. Do not spin. Refrigerate both specimens.
Stability: Both specimens: 24 hours ambient or 7 days refrigerated. Both specimens unstable frozen.
Standard Volume: 2 mL serum and 5 mL whole blood.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum and 3 mL whole blood.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Rejection Criteria: Frozen specimen.
