To schedule, call 541.687.6084. Collect one 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST) each draw. Also acceptable: One 5 mL red top tube, one 4 mL green top tube (heparin), or one 4.5 mL light green plasma separator tube (PST). Draw baseline specimen prior to injection of Thypinone. Draw specimens at 30 and 60 minutes following injection (the time interval may vary depending on the physician’s requirements). Indicate draw time and order of draw, i.e., “1 of 3,” etc., on each specimen.
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours. Refrigerate. Freeze if specimen cannot be assayed within 48 hours.
Stability: 48 hours refrigerated.
Standard Volume: 0.5 mL serum or plasma per draw
Minimum Volume: 250 µL serum or plasma per draw
Transport: Refrigerated, or frozen on dry ice.
Comments: Caution: Carefully review the physician’s request; a TRH Stimulation test for assessment of Prolactin Reserve and secretion is possible. The TRH stimulation test for TSH Reserve requires drawing TSH specimens while the TRH stimulation test for Prolactin Reserve requires drawing Prolactin specimens.
Rejection Criteria: Specimens not labeled with draw times.
