82225:SENSORY NEUROPATHY EVALUATION
Methodology: Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA) / Capillary Zone Electrophoresis (CZE) / Immunoblot (IB)
Edit Date: 5/7/2009
Components: Myelin-Associated Glycoprotein IgM Autoantibodies / SGPG IgM Autoantibodies / IFE Paraprotein / Immunofixation Electrophoresis (IFE) Interpretation / Neuronal Nuclear (HU) Autoantibodies – WB
Performed: Tuesday – Friday
Released: 5 days after setup at PeaceHealth Laboratories’ reference lab.
CPT Code: 83520-90 x2 / 84181-90 / 86334-90
Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST).
Handling: Centrifuge and separate serum from cells and pour into a plastic vial.
Stability: 7 days ambient, 7 days refrigerated, or 2 month frozen.
Standard Volume: 2.5 mL serum.
Minimum Volume: 2 mL serum.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Comments: Low concentrations of one or more autoantibodies in this evaluation can be associated with neuropathies secondary to infectious, inflammatory or systemic autoimmune diseases. However, high concentrations of one or more autoantibodies, especially with paraproteinemia, are suggestive of a primary immune-mediated peripheral neuropathy.
Rejection Criteria: Plasma.

Reference Range:
Myelin-Assoc Glycoprotein IgM Autoantibodies
<1000 Units
SGPG IgM Autoabs
<1.0 EIA Units
