Specimen Collection Details
Collection: Hair (pencil-thin, 3″ lock of hair from nape of neck; indicate root end) or nail clippings (from all fingers).
Handling: Place specimen in a clean, dry plastic vial.
Standard Volume: 2 gm hair or nails.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 gm hair or nails.
Transport: Ambient.
Comments: This test is for either hair or nails. If both hair and nail testing is wanted, each must be ordered on a separate requisition and specimens placed in separate containers.

Patients that have used a Grecian© Formula product cannot have lead testing performed on their hair as these products contain lead.

Arsenic (As) <1.00 mcg/g of hair or nails
Lead (Pb) <25.0 mcg/g of hair or nails
Mercury (Hg) <1.00 mcg/g of hair or nails
