Handling:
Centrifuge and separate serum within 20 hours. Refrigerate. Freeze if specimen cannot be assayed within 72 hours. Do not allow to thaw.
Stability:
<8 hours ambient.
Standard Volume:
0.5 mL serum.
Minimum Volume:
150 µL serum.
Transport:
Refrigerated, or frozen on dry ice.
Comments:
Albumin measurement aids in the diagnosis of kidney and intestinal disease. This test should be ordered for IgG Synthesis Rate Calculation only. Physician order requesting Albumin should use Albumin (30509).
Rejection Criteria:
Plasma; gross hemolysis or gross lipemia; specimen frozen and thawed more than once.
