Specimen Collection Details
Collection:
One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 4 mL green top tube (heparin), one 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA), or two 2 mL grey top tubes (sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate).
Handling:
Centrifuge and separate serum or plasma into a plastic vial. Refrigerate.
Stability:
After separation from clot: 2 hours ambient, 7 days refrigerated, or 1 month frozen.
