82145:MYELIN-ASSOCIATED GLYCOPROTEIN (MAG) IgM and SULFOGLUCURONYL PARAGLOBOSIDE (SGPG) IgM AUTOANTIBODIES
Alias Names: MAG IgM / SGPG / MAG Dual Antigen
Methodology: Enzyme Immunoassay (EIA)
Edit Date: 10/9/2009
Performed: Tuesday, Friday
Released: 5 days after setup at PeaceHealth Labroatories’ reference lab.
CPT Code: 83520-90 x2
Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST).
Handling: Centrifuge and separate serum from cells into a plastic vial. Refrigerate.
Stability: 48 hours ambient, 7 days refrigerated, or 2 months frozen.
Standard Volume: 2 mL serum.
Minimum Volume: 1 mL serum.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Comments: High concentrations of IgM Myelin-Associated Glycoprotein (MAG) autoantibodies are found in approximately 50% of patients with peripheral neuropathies accompanied by IgM monoclonal gammopathies. Autoantibodies to sulfoglucuronyl paragloboside (SGPG) can be detected in sensory and sensorimotor neuropathies, Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) with or without gammopathy, Guillian-Barre syndrome (GBS) and, to a lesser extent, motor neuron disease.
