Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 6 mL grey top tube (sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate). Also acceptable: One 5 mL red top tube or plasma (any type). Chain of Custody is recommended.
Handling: Transfer sodium fluoride/potassium oxalate as whole blood to a plastic vial. Freeze. Centrifuge red top tube or plasma tube and separate serum or plasma into a plastic vial. Freeze.
Standard Volume: 5 mL whole blood, serum, or plasma.
Minimum Volume: 1.2 mL whole blood serum, or plasma. Micro method does not allow for repeat testing or confirmation.
Transport: Frozen, on dry ice.
Rejection Criteria: Specimen not frozen.
