Fluid in container large enough to hold entire specimen.
Handling:
Specimen should be fresh. Submit all fluid collected. To prevent clotting, add 1 mL heparin for every 1000 mL of fluid. Add 0.5 mL heparin for a lesser amount of fluid. Refrigerate. Do not add fixative.
Stability:
2 hours ambient. Refrigerate for longer storage.
Standard Volume:
All fluid collected.
Minimum Volume:
1 mL fluid.
Transport:
Refrigerated.
