Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 6 mL yellow top tube (ACD), one 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA), or one 4 mL green top tube (heparin).
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma into a plastic vial.
Stability: 48 hours ambient, 7 days refrigerated, or 2 months frozen.
Standard Volume: 1 mL serum or plasma
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum or plasma
Transport: Refrigerated.
Comments: Paired testing of acute and convalescent specimens is recommended.

Aid in the diagnosis of past infection/exposure to roseola infantum; may be useful in the diagnosis of chronic fatigue syndrome.
