Collection:
Organisms, in pure culture on agar slant or on swab in bacterial transport media, that are epidemiologically related or are recurrent isolates from the same patient.
Handling:
Submit specimen according to Infectious Substance Shipping Guidelines.
Stability:
7 days ambient. Unstable refrigerated or frozen.
Transport:
Ambient.
Comments:
Contact PeaceHealth Laboratories’ Reference Department for approval before shipping specimen. One report will be generated for each batch tested.
Rejection Criteria:
Nonviable organisms; mixed cultures; leaking containers; specimen received refrigerated or frozen.
