Specimen Collection Details
Collection: Note: Order only by specific request for T7. Collect one 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST).
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and immediately separate serum from cells into a plastic vial.
Stability: 24 hours ambient, 7 days refrigerated, or 30 days frozen.
Standard Volume: 1 mL serum.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Comments: Thyroxine (TF4), Free (40050) has emerged as a more commonly ordered replacement for this panel over the past decade.
Rejection Criteria: Grossly hemolyzed specimen.
