One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 5 mL red top tube.
Handling:
Allow to clot, centrifuge and immediately separate serum in two tubes. Refrigerate. Freeze ≤ -20° C if specimen cannot be tested with 72 hours. Allow no more than one freeze/thaw cycle.

Comments:
ANA specimens are screened using Indirect Fluorescent Antibody methodology using HEP-2 cells. All specimens that screen positive are titered using HEP-2 cells, and the titer and pattern will be reported. Additonal charges will be added for the titer.
Rejection Criteria:
Plasma; gross lipemia; hemolysis; contaminated specimen; specimen frozen/thawed more than once; refrigerated specimen received in laboratory more than 72 hours after collection.
