Specimen Collection Details
Collection: Four 5 mL red top tubes. Do not use serum separator tubes (SST). Also acceptable. Two 6 mL grey top tubes (potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride). Do not use plasma separtor tube (PST). Do not use plasma separator tubes (PST).
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma into plastic vials, or submit whole blood from grey top tubes. Refrigerate.
Stability: Ambient 24 hours, refrigerated 10 days. Frozen is undetermined.
Standard Volume: 7 mL serum, plasma, or whole blood from grey top tubes.
Minimum Volume: 3 mL serum, plasma, or whole blood from grey top tubes (no confirmation).
Transport: Refrigerated.
Comments: Test includes creen and confirmation.
Rejection Criteria: Use of SST or PST; specimen held ambient more than 24 hours.
