Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube. Also acceptable: One 5 mL red top tube.
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and immediately separate serum from cells into a plastic vial. Refrigerate until transport. Freeze at -20° C if specimen cannot be assayed within 8 hours. Allow no more than three freeze/thaw cycles.
Stability: 8 hours ambient or 48 hours refrigerated. Freeze = -20° C for longer storage
Standard Volume: 1.5 mL serum
Minimum Volume: 1.0 mL serum
Transport: Refrigerated or frozen
Comments: Positive ANCA Screen results will reflex to an ANCA Titer & MPO/PR3 confirmation. Additional charges will apply.
Rejection Criteria: Plasma; hemolysis, gross lipemia, or contaminated specimen; heat inactivation’ specimen frozen/thawed more than three times.
