Specimen Collection Details
Two 4.5 mL light blue tubes (sodium citrate).
Immediately after collection centrifuge and separate platelet-poor plasma into a plastic vial. Freeze.

Frozen on dry ice.
The most important inhibitor to plasmin, alpha2-antiplasmin prevents plasmin action on fibrin during fibrinolysis. Decreased levels may lead to easy bruising, epistaxis, hematuria, menorrhagia, hemarthrosis, and bleeding after trauma or surgery.
