Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 5 mL red top tube. Do not use serum separator tube (SST) or plasma separator tube (PST). Also acceptable: Whole blood or heparinized plasma.
Handling: Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma into a plastic vial. Freeze within 24 hours of collection.
Standard Volume: 3 mL serum, plasma, or whole blood.
Minimum Volume: 0.7 mL serum, plasma, or whole blood (micro method does not allow for repeat testing or confirmations).
Transport: Frozen on dry ice.
Rejection Criteria: Specimen not frozen within 24 hours of collection; use of SST or PST.
