Collection: |
One 5 mL red top tube. Do not use serum separator tube (SST) or plasma separator tube (PST). Also acceptable: Whole blood or heparinized plasma. |
Handling: |
Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma into a plastic vial. Freeze within 24 hours of collection. |
Standard Volume: |
3 mL serum, plasma, or whole blood. |
Minimum Volume: |
0.7 mL serum, plasma, or whole blood (micro method does not allow for repeat testing or confirmations). |
Transport: |
Frozen on dry ice. |
Rejection Criteria: |
Specimen not frozen within 24 hours of collection; use of SST or PST. |
