Collection:
Voided or catheterized urine in a sterile plastic container. Do not use preservatives, fixatives, paper of foam cups.
Stability:
48 hours ambient, 7 days refrigerated, or 6 months frozen.
Standard Volume:
5 mL urine
Minimum Volume:
2 mL urine
Rejection Criteria:
Plasma, serum or whole blood; bladder washing.
Reference Range:
Positive
Bladder tumor associated antigen detected.
Negative
Bladder tumor associated antigen not detected.
Results of the BTA stat® test should not be interpreted as absolute evidence for the presence or absence of bladder cancer. Any disease that would cause endogenous human complement factor H (hCFH) to leak into the bladder can cause a positive test result; including renal stones, nephritis, renal cancer, urinary tract infections, cystitis, or recent trauma to the bladder or urinary tract.
