Specimen Collection Details
Collection: Cervical specimen in PreservCyt® (ThinPrep) Solution using a broom-type device (e.g., Rovers Cervex® Brush, Wallach Papette®, or Endocervical Brush/Spatula.
Handling: PreservCyt® (ThinPrep) Solution cannot be frozen.
Stability: Cervical specimen can be stored ambient (20°-30° C) in PreservCyt® Solution for up to 18 weeks prior to performing the test.
Standard Volume: 4 mL
Minimum Volume: 2 mL
Transport: Ambient or refrigerated.
Comments: This test identifies only where the high-risk types detected are genotype 16 or 18.
Rejection Criteria: Cervical swabs in Digene HC Cervical Sampler; SurePath specimen; swab in less than 2 mL specimen volume.
