Standard Volume: 10 mL urine
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL urine

Comments: Approximately 50% of multiple myeloma patients excrete free light chains in urine. About half of such patients excrete free light chains only; whereas, the other half excrete free light chains and the corresponding intact immunoglobulin. Light chain excretion is roughly proportional to tumor burden with more advanced disease and can be useful in monitoring therapy.
