Collection: | NOTE: THIS TEST IS FOR PREGNANT WOMEN. Collection performed Monday-Saturday by appointment with PeaceHealth Laboratories Outpatient Phlebotomy. Patient must be fasting for 8-16 hours prior to collection. Four specimens required. Collect one 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST) each draw. Also acceptable: One 4.5 light green top plasma separator tube (PST), one 2 mL grey top tube, or one 5 mL gold top serum separator tube (SST) for each draw. Four specimens total: Fasting, 1 hour, 2 hour, and 3 hour. Procedure: A glucola dosage of 100 grams is administered after fasting specimen is drawn. The 1 hour, 2 hour, and 3 hour specimens are drawn subsequent to the ingestion of the glucola dose. |

Handling: | Centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours. Specimens drawn in serum or plasma separator tubes can be transported in the original tube after centrifugation. Clearly indicate the draw time and fasting or minutes post-glucola dose, and the order of each draw, e.g., “1 of 4,” etc., on each specimen. Refrigerate. | ||||||||
