Collection: | THIS TEST IS FOR PREGNANT WOMEN. This screening test should be performed between 24 and 28 weeks gestation. Patient need not be fasting. PROCEDURE: 50 grams of glucola is administered orally. One hour after ingestion of the glucola dose, collect one 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST), one 4 mL green top heparinized plasma separator tube (PST), or one 2 mL grey top tube (potassium oxalate/sodium fluoride). | ||||||||
Handling: | Centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells immediately. Specimen drawn in serum or plasma separator tube can be transported in the original tube after centrifugation. Refrigerate for transport. | ||||||||
Stability: | 8 hours ambient, 6 days refrigerated, or indefinitely if frozen. | ||||||||
