One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 4 mL green top tube (heparin) or one 4.5 mL plasma separator tube (PST). Specimen may be drawn on fasting or non-fasting patient.
Handling:
Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours. Refrigerate. Transport in original tube.
Stability:
6 days refrigerated.
Standard Volume:
3 mL serum or plasma.
Minimum Volume:
2 mL serum or plasma.
Transport:
Refrigerated.
Rejection Criteria:
Gross hemolysis.
