One 4 mL green top tube (heparin). Tube must be filled completely. Do not use plasma separator tube (PST).
Handling:
Keep tube tightly stoppered and transport refrigerated in original tube.
Stability:
72 hours refrigerated. Best if analyzed immediately.
Standard Volume:
4 mL whole blood. Tube must be completely filled with blood.
Minimum Volume:
3 mL whole blood. Tube must be completely filled with blood. (pediatric: 0.5 mL whole blood in a syringe or capillary tube; needle MUST be removed and syringe capped).
Transport:
Refrigerated.
Rejection Criteria:
Collection tube not full; tubes other than green top (heparin).
