Collection: | One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 5 ml red top tube. Specimen should be collected before such prostatic manipulations as DRE, prostatic massage, TRUS, or prostatic biopsy. | ||||||||
Handling: | Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum from cells within 3 hours. Refrigerate at 2-8o C. Freeze at -20o C if not assayed within 48 hours. Allow no more than two freeze/thaw cycles. To assure accurate matching for historical graph, patient’s Social Security Number is requested in addition to date of birth. |
