Specimen Collection Details
Collection: NOTE: If unable to process specimen as directed, refer patient to any PeaceHealth Laboratories Patient Service Center for collection.
One 5 mL red top tube. Do not use serum separator tube (SST).
Handling: Specimen must clot for 45 minutes at 37° C using a heat pack, water bath, or dry incubator. Maintain the specimen at 37° C until centrifuged and the serum is separated. Once separated, serum may be stored and transported cold. Indicate that the serum was processed correctly by labeling the tube ”used cyro protocol.”
Standard Volume: 1 mL serum.
Minimum Volume: 0.7 mL serum.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Rejection Criteria: Specimen collected in serum separator tube (SST); cryo protocol not followed.
