Specimen Collection Details
Collection: One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: 4.5 mL plasma separator tube (PST).
Handling: Centrifuge and transport in original tube if possible. Keep tightly capped. If serum or plasma must be poured off, keep tightly capped after pouring off until testing can be done.
Standard Volume: 2 mL serum or plasma.
Minimum Volume: 0.5 mL serum or plasma.
Transport: Refrigerated.
Comments: Does not detect betahydroxybutyric acid.
