One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 4 mL lavender top tube (EDTA) or one 4 mL green top tube (PST). Patient is not required to fast prior to blood collection for this particular test, however, patient should fast 9-12 hours for Lipid Panel (43540).
Handling:
Allow to clot, centrifuge and separate serum or plasma from cells within 2 hours of collection. SST and PST tubes may be centrifuged and transported in the original tube.
Stability:
Serum or plasma stable for 6 days refrigerated at 2 – 8° C.
Standard Volume:
1 mL serum or plasma.
Minimum Volume:
0.5 mL serum or plasma.
Transport:
Refrigerated.
Rejection Criteria:
Gross hemolysis; specimen collected in tube containing citrate.
