Collection: | One 7.5 mL serum separator tube (SST). Also acceptable: One 4 mL green top tube (heparin). Fasting specimen is recommended. | ||||||||
Handling: | Allot to clot, centrifuge and separate serum from cells immediately and pour into a plastic vial. Freeze. Allow no more that one freeze/thaw cycle. | ||||||||
Stability: | After separation specimen stable 1 hour ambient, 7 days refrigerated (total activity will increase 2% per day), or 1 year frozen. Allow no more than one freeze/thaw cycle. | ||||||||
Standard Volume: | 2 mL serum or plasma. | ||||||||
Minimum Volume: | 1 mL serum or plasma. | ||||||||
Transport: | Frozen on dry ice. | ||||||||
